Nominated Charity Teesside Hospice

Howards Café in Stokesley was once again the starting point for the highlight of the Tees Valley MG Owners club events calendar. The weather was glorious and promised to stay that way. Derek and Pat had the raffle under control whilst Reg and Babs sorted the paperwork. After a quick catch up with everyone and a nice but large coffee (and we know what that means ladies…) it was wagons roll.

We headed first of all to Great Ayton where, I discovered, there is a statue of a young James Cook on the green. I had no idea this existed and we must have driven past it on many occasions. From there the route took us on some spectacular roads, some of which we’d not been on before. The weather certainly showed the villages and scenery at their best. After the ladies took a comfort break in Danby (I refer you to my previous comment) we eventually arrived in Rosedale. This had been perfectly timed for the picnic stop. However, it has to be said the earlier arrivals sat in the sun and those of us arriving later had to be content with shade. After Geoff had finished his ice-cream, we continued on. Unfortunately we had to detour due to a road closure. The detour involved driving up Rosedale Chimney Bank. Needless to say I kept my eyes tightly shut the entire time. We soon got back on track and then had another stop in Helmsley. (Mark wanted an ice-cream).
We arrived back at Roots farm in good time to find out how everyone else had done and listen to the raffle being drawn. Chris and her daughters had put some fabulous hampers together for us this year. It was a lovely day and it’s a nice way to showcase our club.

A representative from Teesside Hospice will be at August Club night to accept our cheque.

Thank you once again Reg and Babs, your time and effort is much appreciated.
